Motion to Replace the Constitution and Re-Register under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022

The Incorporated Societies Act 2022 requires all incorporated societies to adopt a new, compliant constitution and re‑register under the new Act.

To proceed with re‑registration, our Club must first adopt a new constitution at a Special General Meeting. Under Rule 26.2 of our current Rules, at least 15 Members must sign a motion proposing the rule change before it can be considered at a meeting.

Please read the motion below and, if you agree, submit your name to support it.

We, the undersigned Members of the Wellington Area Trail Riding Club Incorporated, move that the Club adopt the proposed new Constitution as set out at https://watrc.org/home/constitution/, drafted to comply with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, and that this new Constitution replace the Club’s existing Rules in full.

We request that this motion be placed on the agenda for a Special General Meeting, to be held in accordance with Rule 26 of the current Rules.

Reason for the proposal:

The Incorporated Societies Act 2022 requires all incorporated societies to adopt a compliant constitution and re‑register under the new Act. The Club must adopt a new constitution before applying for re‑registration. The proposed Constitution updates the Club’s governance structure, membership processes, officer duties, dispute resolution procedures, and meeting rules to meet the requirements of the 2022 Act while preserving the Club’s existing purposes and character.
